Annual Meeting
Every year Workington Town Council holds its Annual Meeting. During this meeting, which all members of the council are invited to, the Mayor reads an annual report covering the business of the council from the previous year. This can include events that have taken place, projects completed, as well as a reflection on challenges faced and hope for the year ahead.​
During the annual meeting, Councillors nominate and elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, along with the committee members and chairs of committees for the forthcoming year.
The schedule of meetings for the new year are also confirmed.
Members of the public are welcome to attend this meeting.

Mayor Making Ceremony
The official Mayor Making ceremony will take place after the Town Assembly meeting. The ceremony includes a speech from the outgoing Mayor and presentation of cheques to charities and award winners and the declaration of office is signed by the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor. The new Mayor will also give a speech announcing their chosen charities for the conning year and their hopes and aspirations for their time in office.

Following the ceremony everyone is invited to join The Mayor and Councillor for drinks and a buffet.
