Environment

At Workington Town Council we are always striving to create a better environment for our committee, but also empowering the town to take ownership for their own areas and encouraging them to help us make Workington a better place for us all to live.

The Council's environment committee, along with the Council staff are always working on projects and new ideas to add to the town and the local area.

Vulcan Park has seen the addition of the following areas, all for the benefit of our community:

Nightingale Garden and Monument to allow people a place to go to reflect on the effects of the COVID-19 and to remember all those who suffered and lost their lives.

A bee happy garden for pollinators and wildlife to flourish.

A new play area with brand new inclusive equipment.

Grow Well - the community garden which continues to grow and add new environmentally friendly ways to the way they work.

A hut painted by local school children for Her Late Majesty The Queen's diamond jubilee.

King's Coronation artwork - a new display from the local school children to celebrate King Charles III coronation.

Throughout the town we are looking at improving our play areas and adding new ones to certain areas within the town.

The Council's estates team are working on allotment sites daily to ensure they are fit for

the purpose of our allotment holders, working together to carry out improvements for all.

We aim to improve the area for all, so please feel free to get in touch with any concerns.
